Thankful Thursday

I thought I would join in with some fellow bloggers and do "Thankful Thursday". I have really been realizing lately just how much I have to be thankful for. So each Thursday, I'm going to list 3 things that I'm thankful for, and I'm going to try my best not to repeat myself!

1) This man:
I have been so blessed by Tim. He is not only a wonderful husband but he is my absolute best friend. I talk to him about everything and he is the most supportive person. I know he is going to be an excellent father because he is so caring and understanding!

2) These stinkers:
These two have been my babies for the last 3 years and I have loved it. They cheer me up when I am sad and make me feel like the most exciting person when I come home. Plus, they are so cute to just look at!!

3) My life:
I don't have a picture for this one, but I came to a realization the other day. I'm living my dream! Since I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to be a wife and a stay-at-home mom. From the time Tim and I were dating, we both agreed that we would make that happen. Now, after 4 years of working and juggling all of my other duties, I am blessed to be able to be at home full time. Tim is working hard to provide for us and our little Weiglet. We are going to have to make plenty of sacrifices down the road in order to keep me at home, but we both know it is well worth it.

Obviously, these are not the only things I'm thankful for, but this is just the beginning. I'm excited to add to this list each week. Sometime it might be large, broad things that I list, and sometimes it might be silly things that no one else will understand, but that are important to me at that time.

So join in, what are you thankful for?

A "Baby Pooch"

Not only are a ton of our friends currently pregnant, there are quite a few celebrities that have come forward in the last week or so saying they are expecting babies in the winter, too! One who I think is absolutely adorable is Melissa Rycroft.
I thought it was cute when she said as she was interviewed that the baby bump would come later, but right now she has a baby pooch! That's exactly how I feel! Just enough "bloat" to make pants uncomfortable and to look like you've had a few too many doughnuts but not enough "bump" to make you look pregnant!

Beginning about 6 months before we got married, I started really working out. I had never worked out before in my life! I also started eating healthy. Now since then I've strayed a little here and there on the healthy eating but I've always kept up with the working out. It has been a little hard/frustrating to watch my abdominal muscles disappear one by one! But I know it's all for a good cause :-). And I am hoping I will see them again in less than a year!!

Here are my 14 week pictures. It was actually taken last night which was 14 weeks and 4 days. Little Weiglet is the size of a naval orange! Hard to believe!!
Here is a picture of Annie and Leo as Tim was getting ready to take the pictures. Leo thought the orange was a ball so they were quite interested in what I was holding!

Furniture, Diaper Bags, and Baby Names!

We've had baby names picked out since pretty much the day I told Tim we were pregnant. I guess technically we've had the boy's name decided on for probably several years due to the significance of the names. I will reveal the names in just a second.

I recently found out that people who are not as far along as I am have already been looking at and decided on baby room furniture! Wow, that made me feel way behind!! We're still trying to make decisions regarding bedding. About the time I think I've figured it out, I change my mind!! (Go figure, huh?!)

So, first, I'll reveal the diaper bag we are pretty sure I want:

One of the main things I want in a diaper bag is being able to use it as a diaper bag but also a purse, so I'm not lugging around two bags when we go places. I love this one because it will be great for a boy or a girl, but most importantly, I think it's super cute! ALSO, the name of the bag is the "Splodge Dot Randi Baby Bag". When we looked at it online last night Tim said the decision was made since the name of the bag is my name! Haha!!

Now, onto furniture and baby names. We already talked about how we are not having a full nursery in our current house but we wanted to make sure we had a crib and changing table. Well we found crib/changing table combos at Babies-R-Us online and we felt like they were just what we were looking for. I thought I wanted one specific style of crib whether it was a boy or a girl, but I changed my mind! So, here we go:

Girl:
Abigail Lauren (Abi)
We chose Abigail because we just loved how precious the name is and Lauren is my best friend from college's middle name. I wanted to shorten the name and I want it to end in an "I" like mine.
I love the off white color and the girly-ness of the features in this set. I think it's just so sweet!

Boy:
Robert William (Rob or Robby)
Robert is in honor of our sister-in-law's brother who was killed serving our country in Baghdad. Pretty much since that tragedy occurred, Tim decided if we had a son he wanted him to be named Rob. William is a family name on both of our sides of the family. My paternal grandfather's middle name was William, as is my brother's middle name. Tim's dad and brother are both named William. So it seemed the perfect way to honor both sides of the family.
I love the clean, simple lines and the dark wood. This is the color wood we want in most rooms of our house. I just love the look of it!

So there you have it, we have made 5 decisions, well 6 if you count the fact we decided what room to turn into the nursery area! I think we're doing pretty well considering we still have about 6 months before our little Weiglet gets here!

The joys of the 21st century!

We are obviously first time parents in the 21st century because we totally bought one of these:
That's right, people, we are almost as bad as Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes when they bought their own ultrasound machine! We bought our own fetal doppler monitor so we can hear little Weiglet's heartbeat whenever we want! It came in the mail today and I could hardly wait for Tim to get home so we could try it out. Dr. Daddy found the heartbeat pretty quickly and we just stared at each other and listened. I don't think I could get tired of listening to that precious heartbeat!

"You're going to be a daddy"

I thought I would share the way I told Tim that he was going to be a daddy! Believe it or not, Tim was not the first person I told that I was pregnant. It was actually Mandy! You see, Tim had flown out to Southern California to see his grandparents for a long weekend before his graduation and I stayed home because I had to work. Neither one of us knew or even suspected that I could be pregnant. It's kind of funny because the day before I found out, I actually posted on Facebook that I was having pickles for breakfast. I had several responses asking if I was pregnant, to which I responded, "Heck, no!"

That Monday, I realized that I was a few days "late" and thought I should probably take a pregnancy test just to rule that out. Now, in the 4 years we have been married, I've probably taken 8 pregnancy tests, so I was totally expecting to look at that test and see only one line. Imagine my surprise when I looked at it and there were TWO blue lines! I then proceeded to take 2 more tests (then 1 more that night and 1 more the next day!) I didn't know what to do, but I knew I didn't want to call Tim while he was on vacation and tell him the news on the phone. I just couldn't imagine not telling him face to face. So, I called Mandy and screamed and panicked over the phone to her. I asked her to help me come up with ideas on how to tell Tim. We decided that I would make a sign for when I picked up Tim from the airport and I would also make shirts for the dogs. I went to Walmart on my lunch break the next day (Tim was arriving that evening) and got all the supplies I needed. I made Annie a tank top that said "Big Sister" and Leo a shirt that said "Big Brother". I finished up the sign that evening, put the shirts on the dogs, and headed to the airport to pick up Tim.

As I was there, I could hardly breathe because I was so nervous about telling him. He called me to tell me he was walking down the terminal so I hurried in front of everyone standing around so not everyone saw the sign. As Tim rounded the corner and could see me, I held up the sign that said "Capt, PharmD...". He saw it and shook his head out of embarrassment thinking I had just made this sign announcing his titles, but then when he looked back up I had turned the sign around and it read "Daddy-to-be" with a rattle and bib on it. His jaw dropped and he kind of stopped walking for a minute. I ran up to him and hugged him. He asked "Are you serious?" and I told him I was. I started crying and we both just stood there for a second as we let it really sink in!

When we got home and he walked in to see the dogs in their shirts, he just laughed. He thought it was so cute! Oh and I also took another pregnancy test after he got home. The other 5 just weren't proof enough for me, I guess!!

12 weeks 5 days

Not much different from last week, but I thought you might want a pic anyway!

I'm totally stealing the idea from Kelly, and plan to take a weekly picture with each fruit/vegetable item that "What to Expect When You're Expecting" says baby is the size of. So this week, little Weiglet is the size of a lemon!

Let the changes begin!

We have been in our current rent house for over 2 years. When we moved in, we were so excited about having a third room. So we have our bedroom, Tim's office/man space (meaning it can get as cluttered and messy as he wants, I don't clean it during my regular cleaning), and a guest room. It was the perfect size for us. But now that we have a little Weiglet coming, we realized we needed to make a few changes. We will more than likely only be here in Amarillo for abut 3-4 months after the baby is born, but we still wanted to have a baby space. Originally we thought about moving Tim's desk and his office necessities into the dining room, having my parents take back the dining room table and chairs, move the guest room into the office and make the guest room the nursery. I guess I should add that the office also has a refrigerator in it where we keep extra diet cokes and food and things like that, and we really don't have a place to move that other fridge. Anyways, after realizing that in order to move the guest room into the office, we would essentially be packing up 2 rooms of our house and having to store all of the extra stuff in our very non-weather friendly garage. Chances are, most things would be ruined after the winter if we had to move it all out there. So we decided instead to keep the guest room the same, move Tim's desk to the dining room, and make the office into a nursery "area". It will still have Tim's dresser, the love seat, and the fridge in it, but we will be able to put a crib and a changing table in half of the room. I think it will work out well. Of course, this is not at all what I pictured bringing our baby home to. I imagined working tirelessly on the perfect nursery and having it just right and beautiful for our sweet little baby. I had to come to the realization the other night that we won't be having that for when we bring the baby home, but as soon as we move to San Antonio and get in a house, it will be the first room I complete and it will be just what I have imagined.

Here are some pictures of the moving process of the office. Of course the office is not ready for baby furniture, but we are still 6 months away from having to have that! We are hoping to get the rest of everything packed up in the next week or so, then we can gradually work on adding the furniture and decorating it a little. I was so amazed at how Tim just jumped right into the project and he has no problem with losing his "man space"! I think we both realize this is very temporary and hopefully our next house will have enough rooms for all we are needing!

New Family Member

The title was probably a little misleading, although we will be adding a new family member soon enough! But this family member was a vehicle. We flew down to Dallas this weekend to pick up a new car for Tim. I promise it wasn't as pretentious as that sounds. We had free flights so it only cost us $5 to fly there and only had to drive one car back instead of driving a car there, staying in a hotel overnight, then driving two cars back. What did he get? Well, the same thing he had, just new! We both really like it. The interior is much nicer than his previous Golf. It seems like they decided to add all the extras that other car makers had added. So it's much more comfortable, in my opinion. Here are some pictures of the car:

Ultrasound pictures

We had our first ultrasound when I was about 8 1/2 weeks along. Little weiglet's heart rate was 168 and that little booger was moving all over the place! We have an active one, that's for sure! We could very clearly see that it was a baby (it wasn't anything like Rachel's experience of not being able to find it on the screen!) and looked like a little gummy bear with little nubs for arms and legs. Just the most precious thing we have ever seen. Of course I just cried the whole time! I had prepared myself that we would go in there and they would say, "Well, there isn't a baby in there" so when the technician found our baby so quickly and we watched the heart flicker it was overwhelming!

I feel so incredibly blessed that God has chosen me to carry this precious child. I am humbled to think of the job God has given me and I pray Tim and I are the best possible parents for this baby. We are very excited about this adventure and look forward to all the milestones that are in our near future!

(Please forgive the quality of the pictures of the ultrasounds. I couldn't scan them, so I took a picture of the u/s pictures we had.)

Proud Daddy!

Excited Mommy!

12 Weeks

Before I looked at the pictures Tim took tonight, I was sure I didn't have a bump. After looking at them I do see that there is a little bit of a sign of our little weiglet in there! Granted, I had just eaten a large mexican dinner, but just humor me and let's say it's a baby bump! :-)

Please excuse the big hair and the tired look on my face! It was rainy here today and it's easier to go curly than to fight it to try to keep it straight! And I have been working this week, therefore have been missing my daily nap(s)!

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 12 weeks
Size of baby: our little weiglet is the size of a peach!

Total Weight Gain: 4.5 pounds

Maternity Clothes: I'm wearing the belly band with several of my jeans, but other than that I'm wearing lounge-y clothes so that I don't feel too restricted. I'm mainly feeling bloated all the time. I did buy a couple pair of maternity shorts and a pair of maternity comfy pants.

Gender: We don't know yet but are just about 8 weeks from finding out!

Movement: I'm not feeling anything yet

Sleep: My sleeping is fine, I just get up about once a night to go to the bathroom. I usually take a nap in the early afternoon, also.
Symptoms: I've not been sick a single day of this pregnancy. I've been tired and hungry all the time! Also, a recent symptom has been that I get very dizzy. During one trip to Walmart one morning, I had to sit down about three times as I went throughout the store because I felt like I was going to pass out!
Food Cravings/Aversions: I am not really loving any meat. I don't know why, but I'm loving mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese! Also, I have a double decker taco from Taco Bell about twice a week! Which is funny because I quit eating at Taco Bell about 6 months before we got married and hadn't eaten again until about 2 weeks ago. Now I can't get enough of it!
What I miss: I've really been wanting some sushi lately, so it's kind of sad that I can't have any. Also, I'm missing diet coke! I actually had my first one in about 8 weeks today and it was amazing! My doctor explained to me that I could have certain things in strict moderation, so I figured one every 8 weeks or so wouldn't hurt anything!
Best moment this week: Without a doubt it was hearing our baby's heartbeat for the first time. That was the most amazing experience of my life. I was in the process of explaining some of my fears to my doctor as she put the doppler to my abdomen and as I was speaking the sound of that precious heartbeat drowned out my voice. I immediately started crying and Tim reached his hand over and laid it on my hand. I will cherish that moment for the rest of my life. It was as if God was proving to me that there is no need to worry. He is always there, our baby is there, and my loving husband is there.
What I am looking forward to: I'm looking forward to feeling the baby move for the first time, getting a more protruding baby bump, and finding out if we are having a baby boy or baby girl!

A little update...

I've been dying to share this news for about 8 weeks now...
We're having a baby!!!! We had our first ultrasound about 4 weeks ago and I just had my 12 week check up today. We got to hear the heartbeat today and it was very strong and in the 160s. The due date is January 21, 2011!

It was quite a shock to us to find out we had a little weiglet on the way, but we are extremely excited and look forward to all the changes ahead of us! We were able to tell all of our family at once at Tim's graduation celebration dinner. I will post updates as things progress and I will probably have to join in on the "pregnancy survey" a lot of people have on their blogs. It will be fun to be able to share with everyone what's going on!!

Emily

My cousin, Emily, has landed at her destination in East Asia to do mission work for 6 months. She is such a precious woman of God and I could not be prouder of her. She has a blog that she will be making at least weekly posts while she is gone. Here is her blog address if you are interested in reading about what she is doing: www.emilyatsbu.blogspot.com

If you think of her in the next 6 months, please say a prayer for her and her parents. I know it is hard on them for her to be so far away, but I also know they could not be happier or prouder of her and what she is doing for the Kingdom!

Wedding season is upon us!

Last week we went to Northwest Arkansas for a college friend's wedding. Now this wasn't like other weddings we had gone to for college friends. This was practically a JBU reunion! People came from everywhere to be there and it was so wonderful to see so many friends we hadn't seen in probably about 4 years! Tim was able to spend 2 of the days and evenings with all the guys. I don't think he will ever have friends like he has in his JBU buddies. I'm so glad he was able to spend so much time with them. Ryan, Natalie, and my sweet little Teddy Graham came up on Friday so we were able to spend a little time with them that evening and had dinner with everyone. Then we went to Siloam Springs to have a get together for everyone to be able to catch up a little bit. Saturday we had a family get together because my cousin Emily is leaving for a 6 month mission trip in East Asia. So we had a cookout and she talked to us a little bit about what she will be doing. Emily is actually leaving this evening at 5pm so please be praying for her with me. She is going to be amazing and God is going to use her in ways none of us have ever imagined. Saturday evening we went to the wedding, reception, and then went to a restaurant to spend a little more time with everyone. We had such a great time! I didn't get too many pictures, but here are some of the ones that I did capture.
Graham and Grandlala
Graham is such a happy baby!
Graham getting tickled and loving it!
Getting extra kisses at dinner
Pa and Graham
Cousin Lucas and Cousin Graham
Happy guys!

Sadly I think these are the only pictures I got of the bride and groom! Ooops!

I really have no excuse as to why I haven't made any updates. I need to go sit in the corner and write that 50 more times and maybe I will have learned my lesson! :-)
