Baby Shower

This past weekend I was blessed with a wonderful baby shower.  Both of our parents were able to come into town for the shower, as well as Tim's sister, Kathy.  The food and the entertainment were wonderful.  During one of the games we played everyone went around and gave me their words of wisdom.  I think everyone had a great time!

We enjoyed having everyone here and we received so many wonderful gifts for Robby.  At this point, we have everything we absolutely need except for an extra base for the car seat so we can have one in each car.  Other than that, all the necessities are taken care of!  We are so blessed!  Thank you to everyone who came to the shower, and especially our families who made the long trips out to see us and celebrate with us this weekend.

Here are some pictures from the shower.

My morning started with a flower delivery.  Tim ordered some beautiful fall flowers for me.  They are so pretty!  This is a big deal because Tim isn't a big flower person, so I was so excited to get them!

Then Tim had a little gift from his parents to open before we left.
I probably should have taken some pictures with our families before we left the house.  My hair wasn't crazy until we got out in the wind!!

Extra little surprise!

While our families were in town, I thought it would be fun if we gave them a little treat.  We scheduled a 3D ultrasound at a place here in town that specializes in 3D and 4D ultrasounds for entire families to see.  The appointment was set up for Saturday afternoon and I made up a little note in a baby picture frame to give to our moms that told them they were going to get to see their grandson in 3D!  Apparently everyone had guessed what the surprise was going to be, oh well!!

We loved seeing our little boy.  We got some great pictures of his sweet little face.  He has the most precious nose (bless his heart, that won't last!!) and the cutest cheeks.  He opened his eyes a few times during the ultrasound.  He kept his head pretty still but the rest of him was moving around like crazy so it was a little harder for the technician to get pictures of the rest of him.  He had one of his hands up by his face the whole time and the other hand down between his legs.  We were able to see that he is in fact still a boy, but he was trying to cover himself, that shy little boy!  He also kept his ankles crossed the whole time. He seems to really enjoy relaxing in there!

Homecoming!

Last weekend, we headed up to Northwest Arkansas for the JBU homecoming.  We didn't end up doing anything homecoming related on the campus, but we were able to see and spend time with great friends.  It's been pretty tough on both of us the past couple of months because we don't have any friends in town, so it was really nice to see people we love to be around. Here are some pictures from our weekend, ironically, none with our friends!

25 Weeks

I have had this post ready to go since last Thursday and just haven't gotten it up!  So, I'm putting it up just in time for me to go from 25 weeks to 26!

(please ignore the left side of my hair...it was quite out of control!)

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 25 weeks
Size of baby: 9.2 inches, 2 pounds, the size of an eggplant

Maternity Clothes: Maternity pants, but mostly regular shirts

Gender: sweet, active baby boy!

Movement:  TONS of movement!  Earlier this week while I was sitting on the couch he was kicking and I looked down just in time to see a little heel poke out of my tummy!  It was amazing!  Then I watched for the next 5 minutes while he rolled around and kicked.  It was a wonderful moment!

Sleep: Once I can get in bed and fall asleep, I'm good, it's just the 6 trips to the bathroom in the first 30 minutes of being in bed that's a little frustrating!  Haha!!  Thankfully, I'm not waking up at night to go though, so I'm sleeping through the night pretty well.  Well, other than my normal waking up every time I need to roll over or something.

Symptoms: Swollen feet and a little back pain.  This week I was having some really sharp pains in my abdomen and it was quite uncomfortable.  But that hasn't happened in a few days, so I'm hoping it was just a one time thing.
Food Cravings/Aversions:  Pretty much everything sounds good to me right now!
What I am looking forward to:  We are heading to Arkansas to see some friends this weekend and in two weeks I'm having my baby shower!  I'm excited to have our families in town for that (even though they might be the only ones at the shower!  Haha!)

Sugar rush!

This is what I had to do yesterday morning:

And I was proud of myself for doing it all by myself without anyone sitting next to me cheering me on telling me I could do it!  :-)

For those of you who don't know, between weeks 24 and 28 pregnant women have to go through a glucose testing process to rule out gestational diabetes.  Along with other things, if a pregnant woman has gestational diabetes, she could birth a very large baby as well as being at a risk for preterm labor.  Tim recently told me that it can also cause the baby's eyes to not develop.  So the process includes drinking a glucose drink, waiting for an hour, then having a blood draw to check how your body handled the sugar.

Anyway, I got that little drink and just chugged it in a about 30 seconds to get it over with.  Soon after that, I realized that might not have been a good idea as I started to feel very nauseous!!  Thankfully, it passed and I was fine...until about 15 minutes left in the waiting process.  I started feeling quite lightheaded and generally gross feeling.  With about 5 minutes left, I decided to ask the kind man at the lab if it was normal to feel dizzy and faint-y.  Well, it was dumb to stand up because as soon as I asked him, I stumbled backwards back into my chair and broke out in a cold sweat.  So he comes out to check on me as I'm as pale as can be and trying to keep from passing out.  He went and got a nurse and they wanted me to drink some water or eat some crackers.  I kindly declined because I was not about to have to come back another day to go through this test!!  I told them I just needed a minute, then they could go ahead and draw my blood.  I did recover and made it through the blood draw fine, but then they didn't want me to leave because they were worried about me driving.  It took a little bit of convincing, but they finally let me go.

I had kind of psyched myself out about the test, mainly the drinking portion.  I was expecting it to be like the barium I had to drink when I was a teenager and I knew there was no way I could down that.  Thankfully, it wasn't that bad.  And it was orange flavored, so that made it easy for me drink.  I'm just glad it's over.  Now, let's pray I passed so I don't have to go back and do it all over again, except I would have to wait around for 3 hours!!

24 weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 24 weeks
Size of baby: 9 inches, 1.7 pounds, about the size of an eggplant
Maternity Clothes: Maternity pants, but mostly regular shirts
Gender: sweet, active baby boy!
Movement:  TONS of movement!  He kicks a lot when we are in the car and Tim has the music turned up!
Sleep: I slept so well last night.  It was wonderful.  I just alternated between sleeping on my back and sleeping on my side each time I woke up and that worked very well.  I'm grateful for a rested night!
Symptoms: Lower back and foot pain when I've been standing a lot.  Swollen feet pretty much all the time.  I'm actually surprised my hands aren't more swollen than they are.
Food Cravings/Aversions:  Pretty much everything sounds good to me right now!
What I am looking forward to:  We are going to Arkansas this next week to see college friends.  It will be a quick trip but very fun!
