Splashing away on Father's Day!

We started the day yesterday with breakfast in bed for Tim.  Later, we pulled out Robby's little splashing pool.  He LOVED it!  He loves water in general, so we knew he would enjoy it.
Tim loves french toast sticks!  Last year, I went all out on his breakfast, but I decided to go easy this time!
 All of my boys!
 Getting the pool ready!

The water hose is also a lot of fun!

 Some blurry Father's Day pictures.

Robby was having a "drum off" with Daddy and Charlie!

Anniversary

6 years of marriage

5 moves

4 years of pharmacy school
3 different pharmacy jobs
2 precious babies
in 1 short year
And still going strong!  I am so thankful we got married 6 years ago today.  There have been incredibly tough times but there are have also been the most wonderful times during our marriage so far.  I wouldn't want to be living life with anyone else!  I love you, Tim!

One year ago...

...I walked out of the Amarillo airport, carrying a 7 week old with tears streaming down my face.  I had just said "good bye" to Tim for 5 weeks.  I had no idea how I was going to make it the 5 weeks without him.  I tried to be the sweet, understanding wife but I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little angry.  I was still trying to get the hang of this whole mommy thing and now he was going away.  We both knew it was the right decision for our family.  And God has blessed our decision in ways we never could have imagined.  But those 5 weeks were hard.  I'm very aware that those weeks were just a taste of what life will be like during a deployment, but at the time it was the longest we had been apart during our married life.  During those 5 weeks, Robby turned 2, then 3 months old.  I oversaw the packing of our house and moved to a new city.  I spent time with my family in Arkansas and made my first airplane trip with a baby by myself.  I'm so thankful that the past year is over.  We grew and changed a lot, but thankfully we grew closer together and changed in ways that bettered our relationship.  Our love today is stronger than it was a year ago - it's stronger than it was yesterday!  We are so thankful that God has sustained us during times apart and throughout all the changes we have experienced.

Here we were a year ago:

And here is what happened around here today:

Tim has 10 days of paternity leave that he is taking right now.  I am LOVING him being home!  We have gotten out every day, even if I just sit in the car while he runs in and gets things.  He and Robby have gone on wagon walks to get the mail or have gone to have "man dates" at Best Buy.  At night, he's been getting up with me to change Charlie's diaper while I get ready to feed him.  We've stayed up later than parents to newborns should just watching TV together and staring at our sleeping babies.  He's getting a little taste of what it's like to take care of Robby all day since I can't pick him up.  It's going to be so hard when he has to go back to work, but I'm incredibly grateful that he gets this time off to spend with our newly expanded family!

*Note: I'm still working on the birth story.  I started it a few nights ago but was too emotional to finish it.  Dang hormones!  I am hoping to finish it up to post tomorrow for his one week birthday.*

Weekend Fun

For Tim's birthday I got him tickets to the University of Texas football game against BYU for this weekend.  He has been to a few UT games, but never one at Austin, so we were both excited to get to go.  When I bought the tickets, the game was scheduled for 1pm and I never bothered to check it again.  It wasn't until Friday night that we found out it was at 6pm.  I'm just glad we found out before we left early and got there 6 hours before the game started!  Tim's parents came up to take care of Robby while we were gone.  We got there in time to meet up with a friend who was tailgating.

We headed to the stadium about an hour before the game started.  It's a good thing we didn't get to our seats much sooner because we were directly in the sun!

About 45 minutes into the game, the sun went down enough that everyone wasn't holding their hands over their eyes so they could see!  Sadly, I was dizzy pretty much the entire time, so while everyone else stood to watch the game, I had to sit and try to catch the plays on the big screen.  It was still fun to be there, though!  We actually were sitting with quite a few BYU fans.  There was a couple in front of us where were cheering for BYU.  I noticed she was pregnant.  I have no idea what possessed me to do this, because usually I'm too nervous to start up a conversation with a stranger, but I asked her how far along she was.  She said 5 months.  I then (stupidly) asked if it was her first one.  She replied that it was in fact her 5th.  I am pretty sure I looked like quite the idiot when my mouth dropped.  I told her I was pregnant with our 2nd and gave her the shortened story of our surprise.  She congratulated me and was very excited.  We spoke a few more times throughout the game, as did her husband to Tim.  When the game ended and they were leaving (UT won), they shook our hands and the husband handed us a slip of paper.  They had written "To find a great family church in your area, visit www. mormon . org" then had their names and phone number.  Tim and I just kind of smiled, and later reflected on what they must thought of little, ole, naive me thinking it was her first pregnancy!  They probably thought we were such a young couple just starting our family and would be good recruits!

It took us a while to get out of the parking garage and back onto 35.  I was starving at that point so we stopped and one of Tim's favorite childhood burger places in Austin, Short Stop, and got something to eat.  We got home before midnight.  Robby had a bit of a rough time, going to bed around 7ish, then waking up 9:30ish ready to play!  He finally went to sleep for good about 30 minutes or so before we got back.  It was weird to me for him to be in bed asleep when we got home.  I missed him while we were gone, but it was fun for us to have some time minus the baby.  We held hands the whole way home from the game, without me having to let go to turn around and give a bottle, paci, or toy.  It was a nice break for us!

Precious!

While we have had company the past several nights, Robby has slept in his pack n play in our room. This morning I was in the shower and Robby woke up. So Tim got Robby, fed him his bottle then just nestled him in with him to sleep a little longer. I cried when I came out and saw this.

Accent Vlog

Okay, I decided to join in on the accent vlogs.  I have spent my internet time today watching everyone else's so I thought I should do one also.

A few things about this vlog:
1. I do think Tim says some words differently and his answers were kind of different on a couple of questions, but I really wanted him to do it with me because I felt silly doing it by myself.
2. I am squatting up against the wall to be at the right level where you couldn't see up my nose, which is why I keep shifting.
3. Where am I looking??  I never once looked at the actual camera!
4. I think I look better mirror imaged than I do in real life.  Is there a surgery that can do that for me?
5. I am tired and hadn't washed my hair...I'm sorry!
6. I recorded this in photo booth, but at first forgot to switch it over to video from camera.  So this is what our vlog started as:
7. I end it by saying "You guys" after I answered that I say "Y'all"!  I never say "you guys" so I don't know what possessed me to say it right then!  Haha!!

Enjoy!

The instructions are to say these words:
Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught

And answer these questions:

  • What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?

  • What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?

  • What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?

  • What do you call gym shoes?

  • What do you say to address a group of people?

  • What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?

  • What do you call your grandparents?

  • What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?

  • What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?

  • What is the thing you change the TV channel with?

    Robby's trip to Cabela's!

Today, we drove about 45 miles north to Bula and went to Cabela's so Tim could buy a gun that he's been saving to be able to get. We started our morning with Robby sleeping until almost 9! It never fails, whenever we don't set our alarm "knowing" he will wake us up early, he sleeps late! It was fine with us, though. We got some Shipley kolaches and donuts on our way out of town and got there about 10:30. Tim was able to get his gun (we actually went last night but we didn't have any government documents with our current address so he couldn't buy the gun last night). Then we walked around and enjoyed everything. Tim told Robby all about the animals.

We had so much fun, it just wore out Robby!

We ate at the restaurant there then headed home. We stopped by the big outlet mall in San Marcos on our way home. Robby has outgrown all of his pajamas. The only few that fit him are fleece and far too hot for summertime down here. The Carter's outlet was having a great sale so Robby also got some new shirts!

We ended the day by having Kathy, Tim's sister, over for dinner and just relaxed the rest of the evening. It was a great and tiring day! Robby was so exhausted from our adventures, he went to bed at 6!! :-)

    Daddy and Robby Time

Every afternoon when Tim gets home from work (as long as Robby isn't napping), the boys have some quality bonding time. Robby "tells" daddy all about his day. It's a sweet time for them and I am blessed to be able to witness it!

    5 years!

Tim and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary on June 10th.  Some friends of ours kept Robby so we could go out to eat.  We went to Ruth's Chris in downtown San Antonio, thanks to a gift card!

    Lately

Tim started his job at Randolph last week.  He reported last Monday, had Tuesday and Wednesday off, then began his inprocessing Thursday and has been doing that and training since then.  I absolutely love that he works 5 minutes away.  He gets to come home for lunch most days which is such a nice way to break things up for me.  We are almost completely settled in the apartment.  We will be getting a new sofa and recliner at the end of the month.  Once that's done, I will post pictures of it.  We really like it.  It's pretty much the same square footage as our old house but it's 2 bedroom instead of 3, so there is extra space in the kitchen, living room, and master bathroom/closet.  It has been nice to be in a place only a couple of years old instead of something 70 years old!!  Here are some pictures of what we've been up to! (they are actually backwards in order of when they were taken, fyi!)
